PRIVACY NOTICE

NearFree Privacy Notice

This notice explains what the current NearFree website handles, what stays on your device, and when another service's privacy practices apply.

Last updated August 16, 2026

Scope and current operator

This notice applies to the public NearFree website operated as an independent, pre-launch project. NearFree currently has no account system, first-party backend, advertising network, analytics service, email subscription or payment flow. A linked organizer, GitHub or another external service operates under its own notice.

Information NearFree handles

NearFree site code does not ask for your name, email, phone number, password, payment details or demographic profile. It handles only the preferences described below and the listing or catalog-view value shown in a NearFree URL. It does not set first-party advertising or analytics cookies or send an activity profile to a NearFree server.

Information kept on your device

Your browser may store your language, selected DFW city and browsing scope, saved listing IDs, and Radar preview city, radius and interests. NearFree uses these values only to restore your choices. They remain until you clear this site's browser data or your browser removes them.

Optional current location

If you choose Use current location, the browser asks permission. NearFree uses the coordinates in memory to calculate distance, does not put them in browser storage and does not transmit them through site code. The browser or operating system may use its own location provider under its own terms.

Static hosting and external pages

Cloudflare Pages serves the site and may process standard connection and security information under Cloudflare's privacy policy. NearFree does not enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, add another tracking request or receive a personal analytics profile. Opening an organizer or other external link leaves NearFree and that destination's policy applies.

Feedback sent through GitHub

Listing corrections, accessibility reports and general feedback are public GitHub issues. GitHub stores the content and requires an account. Do not submit personal or sensitive information. Private vulnerability reports use GitHub's restricted security-advisory channel.

Disclosure, sale and advertising

NearFree does not sell personal data, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising. NearFree does not disclose a first-party user profile because it does not create one. Cloudflare, GitHub and external destinations may independently process connection data or information you provide under their own policies.

Retention and deletion

Device preferences remain until you clear this site's data or your browser removes them. Precise location is kept only in page memory for the active visit. NearFree has no first-party server record to retain, export or delete. Cloudflare controls its hosting and security records; GitHub controls account data, public issues and private security reports under each provider's policies and tools.

Children's privacy

NearFree is designed for adults and guardians planning local activities. It does not knowingly collect children's personal information. A child under 13 should not submit a public report; a parent or guardian can report a factual correction without sharing the child's information.

Your choices and rights

You can deny location permission and still choose a city, clear NearFree browser data at any time, avoid the public feedback channel, and confirm details directly with the official organizer. If you already posted sensitive information publicly, use GitHub's controls and notify the repository owner through that issue so removal can be reviewed.

If applicable law gives you access, correction, deletion, appeal or opt-out rights, you may ask a question through the contact path without posting sensitive details. For information controlled by GitHub or an external provider, submit the request directly to that provider. NearFree will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Security and service limits

NearFree limits data collection by design and uses a restrictive content security policy, no-referrer policy and isolated external links. No website or transmission method is completely secure. Report a suspected vulnerability through the private security channel, not a public issue.

Changes to this notice

NearFree will update this page before adding accounts, analytics, notifications, payments or a first-party contact system. The updated date identifies the version currently in effect.
